Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency you need to manually vacuum. Find one that has excellent navigation, is able to clean stairs and corners and has a huge dust bin that requires emptying only periodically.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves, which is a feature that is essential for families with children or pets. A majority of the top performers in our tests have excellent obstacles to avoid.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those looking for a an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin once it gets full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they're excellent at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we tested the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may get stuck on things like socks or power cords, and may have issues traversing transitions across surfaces like from hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it might encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid getting blocked. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is empty it goes back to its docking station and automatically emptying its dirt into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it left off. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes 3 hours to charge.
2. automatic vacuum from iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot through the app or voice.
In our testing the i7+ performed more agile and faster than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model feels like an automobile. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households however, it can also fit nicely on a coffee table or on shelves that you can spin around like a magic tool.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to collect large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It is able to quickly change from handheld to floor vacuum, and vice versa.
This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also gives easy access to 2 attachments and an handheld. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons models, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited run time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average, not an exceptional, time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's still enough time to clean most of a typical-sized home, but not quite long enough to clean every area (though an additional run-through often can be effective). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more mobile than the older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of the most well-known robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's an excellent option for those who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and often passes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice addition.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it isn't equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. Because of this, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, as it has a longer battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode manually and has physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name that is seen on a variety of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior modifications docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to learn and use as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we've tested which could be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that is accessible through the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and the dust bin are washable for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps keep the bin clean and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard flooring. They have a wider cleaning path and an extra-large dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than competitors to keep the cleaning area clean for the longest time. They also have two side sweepers for cleaning along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level based on whether it is picking up surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also includes a smart application that lets you browse the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the battery's status and send it back to its dock for charging at the touch of the button. The app allows you to alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to tell where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.
The application also allows you to steer the robot manually in the event of need. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to trip up some of the other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however, continued to move across the border without registering the high point. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
